Why awakening?

Why awakening?

In the first article I want to talk about the name of the journal “The Awakening” is, of course it is not random (and generally do not accidentally). In the words of one character of the Soviet cartoon: How do you call a boat so it will float.
So “The Awakening”, I hasten to note nothing in common with the journal “Awake” Jehovah’s Witnesses. In general, though we will often talk about different religions, but the journal never will belong to any of the existing denominations.

Why awakening? In general awakening is of two kinds: there are just waking from sleep when the alarm clock rings this hateful and we have time to get up from a warm bed to go to a job or something else. But there’s another awakening – an awakening from the sleep of everyday life and routine, which resides in the bonds of our soul.

Several years ago I had the opportunity to work a little head of department of the State Savings Bank of Ukraine, and long life, I often had to communicate with retirees, who actually are the main clients of Savings Bank. And many of them talked about this: remember the childhood, adolescence, youth, first love, but only after getting married (married) and it’s adult years, started the routine, children, diapers, everyday work – just do not have time to look back, as I have 60 years. That’s how most people live, goes to the routine, watching TV, but then again – and is already aging, and when time passed, who knows … … … … ..

And if you look at the children, they are always interested in everything, they have a lot of energy, they run, jump, climb trees, every day of their fillings extraordinary experiences and feelings. They live, they do not sleep, they can be surprised and wonder, in the Gospel it is written – until you become as little children ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The great mystic of the early 20th century, G. Gurdjieff distinguished four states of consciousness, normal adult man is the same in only 2 of them: this is a dream, and so the title of the waking state. Although in reality it is not awake (if you walk like a sleepwalker) Here’s an experiment: Let each of us try to remember what he was doing that day, but a month ago. Who was that fellow. The third and fourth condition is a state of self-awareness and awareness of the objective (enlightenment), if you look at them through the spectacles of modern psychology, it is an extraordinary state of consciousness that are characteristic of extraordinary people – mystics, saints, ascetics, monks, shamans and scientists (but not all, such as Einstein) and of course, children. If you fly on the wings of our minds in the depth of his childhood, I think everyone out there in my childhood memory, will find those moments when he was good, cool, not then when my parents bought ice cream or some kind of toy, but cool simple, without any reason, just like that! But from the moment of maturation, such experiences become less and less until, finally, do not disappear completely. But they are just a glimpse of 3rd and 4th states of consciousness. We’ll talk about them more deeply in future articles.

Thus, the soul, imprisoned evil dragon and ordinary to us desirable to release her, but rather to awaken like a fairy tale about a sleeping princess.

Of course such an awakening of the soul is not a very simple thing, and forgive the alarm will not do here (even if you connect to it one hundred cotton column) About This is a very good Muslim Sufi poetic parable, mystic and poet Rumi Dzhalladina. The parable about Jesus and there is nothing strange in the fact that the Muslim mystic writes about Jesus, because the mystical Sufi Muslim tradition also considers Jesus as one of his greatest mentors.

So Jesus:

One day I saw Jesus on the way
I saw – and decided to go after him.

They met the two bones of the dead,
Long decayed, do not buried in the ground.

I said to Jesus, “How to breathe,
Do you habitually raise the dead:

For you – the Messenger of God, you – the Messiah!
So share with me of the wonderful power

Where you fought the darkness of death:
I have two of these deaths take away! “

Jesus said: “It is not their two, their three!”
And me: “But where is the third? I will not deny

With only two in the sand could notice! “
“You – this third! – Answered the Prophet. –

So leave the dry bones,
But better take care about yourself bother:

In the land to someone to serve,
Soul to God, you must come to life! “

Here, here it is the revival or resurrection, or birth, or even as something (no matter how we call it), and inspired me to such a journal title. It certainly does not mean that all of our readers will be awake and even myself to this oh how far (even if it was close I would b still not admitted). In general awakening – a real art, this includes many different aspects about them, and we say more about it in the journal. And finally, tell a good, old, and probably has many famous Indian parable about the elephant. Nevertheless parable perfectly defines the concept of the journal.

It was six men of Indostan
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind.
The First approached the Elephant,
And happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:
“God bless me! but the Elephant
Is very like a wall!”
The Second, feeling of the tusk,
Cried, “Ho! what have we here
So very round and smooth and sharp?
To me ’tis mighty clear
This wonder of an Elephant
Is very like a spear!”
The Third approached the animal,
And happening to take
The squirming trunk within his hands,
Thus boldly up and spake:
“I see,” quoth he, “the Elephant
Is very like a snake!”
The Fourth reached out an eager hand,
And felt about the knee.
“What most this wondrous beast is like
Is mighty plain,” quoth he;
“Tis clear enough the Elephant
Is very like a tree!”
The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear,
Said:”E’en the blindest man
Can tell what this resembles most;
Deny the fact who can
This marvel of an Elephant
Is very like a fan!”
The Sixth no sooner had begun
About the beast to grope,
Than, seizing on the swinging tail
That fell within his scope,
“I see,” quoth he, “the Elephant
Is very like a rope!”
And so these men of Indostan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!
